Amos never expected his life to shift. He woke up each morning tending sheep, caring for sycamore trees, and living quietly in the rhythms of ordinary work. Yet in Amos 7:14–15, we hear his simple confession: he was not a prophet by training, nor the son of one. Still, God called him. And when God calls, everything changes.I once met a woman who spent years believing her life was too small to matter. She worked long hours, cared for her family, and served quietly at church. One day, she felt a nudge to start praying for people at her job. She didn’t preach, didn’t teach, didn’t stand behind a podium—she simply prayed. Months later, coworkers began seeking her out for encouragement. Her simple obedience opened a door for God’s presence to shine in a place she never expected. Like Amos, she discovered that God delights in using ordinary people for extraordinary purpose.Amos’ story teaches us that God’s calling is not about background—it’s about willingness. God chooses people who feel unqualified, overlooked, or unsure. He places His word in their mouths, His strength in their steps, and His purpose in their hearts. When God calls, He equips. When He sends, He sustains. And when He speaks, He transforms the ordinary into a vessel of divine impact.“God does not wait for perfection—He calls the willing and strengthens the humble.”So how do we respond when God calls? First, we listen. God often speaks in quiet nudges, gentle convictions, or unexpected opportunities. Second, we trust. His calling may stretch us, but it will never abandon us. Third, we step forward. Even small acts of obedience can carry great spiritual weight. As you move through this week, remember Amos. Remember the woman who prayed. Remember that God sees your ordinary life and calls it valuable. He can use your hands, your voice, your presence, and your story to bring hope to someone else.May you walk confidently, knowing that the God who called Amos also calls you—and He will equip you every step of the way.

When God Calls the Ordinary

There are moments when praise comes easily, and moments when it feels like something we have to choose intentionally. I once sat with someone who shared how God carried her through a difficult season. She didn’t try to make the story sound perfect; she simply spoke of the quiet ways God showed up — in strength, in comfort, in small reminders that He was near. Listening to her, I felt my own faith settle. Her story became a gentle nudge, teaching my heart to praise even in uncertain places.Psalm 145:4 captures this beautifully: “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” This verse is more than a statement — it is an invitation. Praise is something we learn, something we pass down, something that grows as we remember what God has done. When we speak of His goodness, we strengthen our own hearts and encourage those around us. Praise becomes a rhythm that shapes how we see God in our present circumstances. This rhythm helps us walk through life with steadiness. When challenges arise, remembering God’s past faithfulness gives us courage for what’s ahead. When uncertainty grows, recalling moments of His provision helps us breathe again. These memories become spiritual anchors — reminders that God’s character does not shift with our circumstances.“Remembering God’s goodness today prepares your heart to trust Him tomorrow.”So how do we teach our hearts to praise? Start small. Think of one moment when God showed you kindness or strength. Write it down. Share it with someone. Let Scripture guide your thoughts throughout the day. And when worry tries to take over, pause and remember a time when God carried you through something you didn’t think you could handle. These simple practices create a foundation of trust that grows stronger over time.As you move through this week, let Psalm 145:4 shape your perspective. Tell of God’s goodness. Recall His mighty acts. Let your heart be strengthened by the stories of His faithfulness — both your own and those passed down to you. May praise become a practice that steadies your steps and fills your days with hope.

Teaching the Heart to Praise

Sometimes life brings us to places that feel like the end of the road. A diagnosis, a financial setback, a broken relationship, or a season of uncertainty can make us feel like we’re standing at our own Red Sea with no way forward. I remember a moment when a friend told me, “I don’t see any path out of this.” Her words carried the weight of exhaustion, fear, and the quiet hope that maybe God still had something to say. And He did.Exodus 14 shows us a people standing between an ocean and an army. Israel had just stepped out of slavery, but freedom didn’t come without fear. The waters blocked their future, and Pharaoh’s chariots threatened their past. Yet God placed His angel and His cloud between Israel and their enemy, reminding them that His presence is not just comforting—it is protective. God didn’t remove the Red Sea; He transformed it.“God often turns the places that feel final into the places where His power is revealed.”The miracle didn’t happen until the people moved. Moses lifted his staff, the wind blew, and the sea opened. What looked like a dead end became a pathway of deliverance. God didn’t just rescue Israel; He ended the threat that had chased them for generations. The place where fear tried to stop them became the place where God secured their freedom. In our own lives, God invites us to take small steps of faith even when the way forward isn’t clear. Maybe it’s making a phone call, asking for help, praying again, or simply choosing not to give up. When we move, God moves. When we trust, God strengthens. When we step forward, God opens what we could never open on our own. This week, let Exodus 14 remind you that God is not intimidated by your Red Sea moments. He is present, powerful, and working in ways you cannot yet see. What feels like the end may be the beginning of a testimony you’ll carry for years to come.May you walk forward with courage, knowing that God goes before you and stands behind you. He is the God who parts seas—and He is still doing it today.

This is Where it Ends

Some questions stay with you long after they’re asked. I once spoke with someone who was wrestling with their faith—not because they didn’t believe, but because they realized their understanding of Jesus was shaped mostly by what others had said. They told me, “I need to know Him for myself.” Their words echoed the question Jesus asked His disciples in Matthew 16:15: “But what about you? Who do you say I am?”This moment in Scripture is deeply personal. Jesus begins by asking what people say about Him, but He doesn’t stay there. He turns the question toward His disciples, inviting them into a revelation that cannot be borrowed. Peter’s answer—“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God”—wasn’t learned from public opinion. It was revealed by the Father. This teaches us that true faith is discovered, not inherited. It grows as God opens our eyes to who Jesus truly is.When Jesus becomes personal, everything changes. He becomes more than a name we’ve heard or a story we’ve been told. He becomes our peace in uncertainty, our strength in weakness, our anchor in shifting seasons. And as that revelation deepens, God builds our lives on a foundation that cannot be shaken. Jesus told Peter, “On this rock I will build my church,” reminding us that God builds on revealed truth—not secondhand belief.“Faith becomes unshakable when you know Jesus for yourself.”So how do we lean into this personal revelation?1. Ask God to show you who Jesus is. He delights in revealing Himself to those who seek Him.2. Spend time in Scripture with an open heart. Revelation often comes through quiet moments of reading and reflection.3. Notice how God shows up in your daily life. Sometimes the clearest answers come through lived experience. As you move through this week, let Jesus’ question rest gently in your spirit. Not as pressure, but as invitation. He wants to be known by you—not just understood, not just admired, but known. And when you discover who He is for yourself, you’ll also discover who you are in Him.May this be a week of clarity, revelation, and renewed confidence in the One who calls you personally.

When Jesus Makes It Personal

Today marks a beautiful new beginning for our church family. We are grateful to announce the official launch of the Seeds of Love Ministry and the groundbreaking of our First Baptist Church of Bunche Park Church Garden — a space we pray will become a living expression of faith, fellowship, service, and hope. For many months, God has been stirring a vision within our congregation: a place where hands can work together, hearts can grow together, and our community can gather around something life‑giving and meaningful. This morning, that vision begins to take root.A Ministry Rooted in Purpose The Seeds of Love Ministry was created to reflect three core truths:Planted in Faith — We trust God to bring growth in every season. Grown in Love — We serve one another with compassion and unity. Shared in Hope — We extend God’s goodness beyond our walls and into our community. This garden will be more than soil and seeds. It will be a place where relationships deepen, where families serve together, where children learn, and where our church continues to shine as a beacon of hope in Bunche Park.Groundbreaking Day: A First Step Toward Something Beautiful This morning at 6:00 a.m., our church family gathered to prepare the ground for what we believe will become a blessing for years to come. Whether seasoned gardeners or first‑time volunteers, everyone came with willing hearts — ready to work, ready to serve, and ready to plant seeds of faith.A second workday will take place on Saturday, August 29 at 6:00 a.m., and all are welcome to join us again as we continue building this space together.A Scripture for the Journey “Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.” — Psalm 126:5As we begin this ministry, we hold onto this promise: God honors every seed sown in faith. What we plant today will bear fruit in ways we cannot yet see — in lives touched, in hearts encouraged, and in a community strengthened by love.Join Us in Prayer and Participation We invite you to pray for this ministry, volunteer when you can, and share in the joy of watching something new grow in our church family. May this garden become a place where God’s love is seen, felt, and shared.Seeds of Love Ministry Planted in Faith. Grown in Love. Shared in Hope.

Seeds of Love Ministry: Planted in Faith, Growing in Community

There are moments in life when we realize we’ve stayed in the same place for longer than we intended. Maybe it’s a routine that once felt comforting but now feels limiting, or a mindset that once protected us but now keeps us from growing. I remember sitting in my living room one evening, looking at a stack of unfinished plans; I kept promising myself I would start “soon.” It wasn’t that I lacked desire—it was that I had become comfortable staying still. That night, I sensed God whispering, “It’s time to move.”Deuteronomy 1:6–8 captures a similar moment for Israel. After dwelling at the mountain, God tells them they have stayed long enough. It wasn’t a rebuke—it was an invitation. God had a land prepared for them, a future shaped by His promise. But stepping into that future required movement. It required trust. It required the courage to leave familiar ground.“God’s call to move is always connected to His promise to lead.”This passage teaches us that new seasons begin not with our strength but with God’s direction. When He says it is time to rise, it means He has already gone ahead. The land He calls us to enter—whether spiritual, emotional, or practical—is never uncharted to Him. Our part is simply to respond with faith, even if the next step feels small. Here are a few ways to walk into the new season God may be opening for you:1. Listen intentionally. Spend quiet time asking God where He is leading.2. Release what no longer serves your growth. Some mountains are meant for resting, not dwelling.3. Take one step. Movement doesn’t have to be dramatic; it just has to be obedient.4. Trust His timing. God prepares the path long before He invites you to walk it.As you move through this week, remember that God’s invitation into a new season is rooted in His love. He sees your potential, your purpose, and your future. And He is faithful to guide you into every place He has prepared. May you walk forward with courage, knowing He goes before you.
