Healing Begins With a Reach
There are seasons when life quietly drains us. We keep showing up, giving our best, and pouring out strength we don’t always have. Yet somewhere along the way, we realize we’re losing more than we’re gaining. I once spoke with someone who said, “I feel like I’m bleeding on the inside, and no one sees it.” Her words carried the weight of exhaustion — the kind that settles deep in the soul.
Luke 8 introduces us to a woman who understood that feeling well. For twelve years she lived with a condition that left her physically weakened and emotionally worn. She had tried everything she knew, but nothing changed. Still, she refused to surrender to despair. When she heard Jesus was near, she reached for Him — not with strength, but with hope. That single reach became the turning point of her life.
“Sometimes the smallest reach toward God becomes the beginning of our healing.”
What makes her story so powerful is not just the miracle itself, but the courage it took to reach while she was still hurting. She didn’t wait to feel stronger. She didn’t wait for the perfect moment. She simply stretched her hand toward the One who could do what she could not. And Jesus met her with compassion, identity, and restoration.
Many of us carry wounds that linger longer than we admit. Some come from people who continue to cut us emotionally. Others come from battles we cannot win in our own strength. But healing begins when we stop trying to manage everything alone and start bringing our pain to God. Prayer becomes more than a routine — it becomes a strategy, a lifeline, a place where the bleeding finally slows.
If you’re in a draining season, here are a few steps to help you move toward healing:
- Name what has been wounding you. Healing begins with honesty.
- Reach for Jesus in prayer. You don’t need perfect faith — just a willing heart.
- Release what keeps reopening old wounds. Not everything deserves your strength.
- Receive God’s truth over your life. His words restore what pain has distorted.
You may feel tired, but you are not forgotten. You may feel drained, but you are not defeated. Healing is not always instant, but it begins the moment you reach — even if all you can offer is a trembling hand and a hopeful heart.
