When Christ Makes Us One

Jan 28, 2026By FirstBCBP

Unity is one of the most powerful gifts God gives His people, yet it’s also one of the easiest to overlook. In a world where opinions clash and differences feel louder than ever, Scripture invites us to return to a deeper truth: unity begins with Christ. When our hearts are centered on Him, we discover a foundation strong enough to hold us together even when life pulls us in different directions.

Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians remind us that division doesn’t start on the outside — it begins quietly within us. It grows when we elevate our preferences, our pride, or our frustrations above the call to love one another. But the cross shifts our focus. It reminds us that we belong to something bigger than ourselves, and that Christ is the One who brings us into a shared family of faith.

Unity doesn’t mean we all think the same way or move at the same pace. It means we choose grace over winning an argument. It means we listen with humility, speak with gentleness, and remember that every believer is someone Christ died for. When we practice this kind of unity, we reflect God’s heart in ways that words alone cannot.

This passage also challenges us to trust the power of the gospel more than the power of our own wisdom. The cross may seem simple, but it carries a strength that transforms lives. When we lean into that strength, we find courage to repair relationships, soften our hearts, and walk in love even when it’s difficult.

As you move through the week, consider where God may be inviting you to pursue unity. Is there a conversation that needs healing? A perspective that needs softening? A relationship that needs grace? Christ meets us in those places with patience and power. And as we follow His lead, we become living examples of the unity He prayed for — a unity that draws others toward Him.
