When God Forms You in the Quiet Places

Feb 23, 2026By FirstBCBP

There are moments in life when God leads us into seasons that feel quieter, slower, or more challenging than we expected. Matthew 4:1–11 shows us that even Jesus experienced this. Before He ever preached a sermon or performed a miracle, He was led into the wilderness—a place where distractions were stripped away and His heart was strengthened for what was ahead.

The wilderness is not a place we choose, but it is often a place God uses. In the silence, Jesus learned to lean on the Father’s voice. In the hunger, He learned to trust God’s provision. In the temptation, He learned to stand firm on the truth. These moments were not signs of weakness; they were the foundation of His strength.

We often think favor comes first—open doors, opportunities, recognition. But Scripture shows us that formation comes before favor. God shapes our character long before He reveals our calling. He prepares us privately so we can stand confidently in public moments.

If you find yourself in a season that feels hidden or stretching, take heart. God is not punishing you; He is preparing you. He is forming resilience, clarity, and spiritual strength within you. The wilderness is temporary, but the work God does there lasts a lifetime.

May you find comfort in knowing that the same God who formed Jesus in the quiet places is forming you, too. And when the time is right, what He has shaped in you will carry you into the purpose He has already prepared.
