Where is Jesus Now?

Apr 22, 2025By FirstBCBP

After the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, Christians are called to live in light of these transformative events. The ascension marks Jesus' return to heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God, a place of honor and authority. This position signifies His divine power and role as an intercessor for believers, advocating on their behalf, and offers direct access to God. With Jesus mediating for us, the need for traditional sacrifices is no longer necessary. This event also signifies the commissioning of His followers to continue His work on Earth. Here's how believers can engage with their faith and grow in understanding of Jesus' eternal promise.

Living Out the Great Commission

One of the key instructions Jesus gave before His ascension is known as the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands His disciples to go out into the world, making disciples of all nations and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This commission is a call for believers to share the Gospel, live out Christ's teachings, and welcome others into the Christian faith.

Embracing the Role of the Holy Spirit

After Jesus' ascension, the Holy Spirit was sent to guide and empower believers. Acts 2 describes the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, which filled the disciples with the ability to spread the Gospel boldly. For Christians today, the Holy Spirit is God's presence within them, providing strength, wisdom, and comfort. The Holy Spirit helps believers to live a life that honors God and reflects His love to others.

Engaging in Community and Fellowship

Being part of a church community is vital for spiritual growth and support. Regular participation in worship services, Bible studies, and fellowship groups encourages believers to deepen their faith and build relationships with others who share their beliefs. It also provides opportunities for service and stewardship, allowing individuals to use their gifts to support the church and community.

Deepening Understanding Through Study

For those wanting to know more about Jesus' life, teachings, and the implications of His resurrection and ascension, studying the Bible is essential. Engaging in personal study, joining a Bible study group, or attending theological classes can enhance one's understanding and help apply scriptural truths to everyday life. To explore the reality of Jesus and seek His presence, consider reaching out to Him in prayer. As it says in Matthew 7:7, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." This verse encourages believers to actively seek a deeper connection with Jesus and trust in His promise to reveal Himself.

Prayer as a Lifeline

Prayer is a fundamental practice for maintaining a close relationship with God. It allows believers to express gratitude, seek guidance, and intercede for others. Regular prayer helps cultivate a heart aligned with God's will, fostering spiritual growth and resilience in the face of life's challenges.

Resources for Further Exploration

If you're interested in learning more about Jesus' resurrection and ascension, consider exploring the following resources:

  1. Books: Look for commentaries and books by reputable theologians and pastors that delve into the resurrection and ascension's significance.
  2. Online Courses: Many religious institutions offer free or affordable online courses that explore biblical themes and teachings.
  3. Podcasts and Sermons: Listen to sermons and podcasts from trusted pastors and theologians to gain diverse perspectives on these foundational events.

In summary, the resurrection and ascension of Jesus are not just historical events but ongoing realities that shape the lives of believers. By embracing the Great Commission, engaging with the Holy Spirit, and deepening their understanding through study and prayer, Christians can live out their faith with purpose and passion, knowing they have direct access to God through Jesus.
