Title: Session 3: Be Faithful in Adversity
Scripture: Nehemiah 6:1–19
Summary:
In this session of God Inspires the Work: Study of Nehemiah, Reverend Everett reminded us that Christian leadership often comes with trials. Nehemiah’s story shows how God’s people can remain steadfast in the face of lies, opposition, and fear.
Leadership Under Attack: Nehemiah faced gossip, slander, and false accusations, yet he stood firm, declaring the wall was too important to abandon. His courage was rooted in prayer and faith in God’s strength.
False Security Exposed: Enemies even hired a prophet to deceive him, urging him to hide in the temple. Nehemiah discerned the trap, trusting God rather than giving in to fear.
Victory Through Perseverance: Despite constant opposition, the wall of Jerusalem was completed in just 52 days, a testimony to faithful leadership, unity, and God’s power.
The lesson challenges us to reflect on the “walls” in our own lives and church whether prayer, discipleship, unity, stewardship, or outreach and ask: Which walls remain unfinished, and how can we rebuild them together?
