Weekly Sermon - September 21, 2025
Message by Reverend Benny L. Everett III, M. Div.
Subject: God Won't Forget Us!
Scripture: Amos 8:4-7 (NIV)
4 Hear this, you who trample the needy
and do away with the poor of the land,
5 saying,
“When will the New Moon be over
that we may sell grain,
and the Sabbath be ended
that we may market wheat?”—
skimping on the measure,
boosting the price
and cheating with dishonest scales,
6 buying the poor with silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals,
selling even the sweepings with the wheat.
7 The Lord has sworn by himself, the Pride of Jacob: “I will never forget anything they have done.
Summary
The prophet Amos exposes how the powerful trample the poor, using deceitful measures to enrich themselves.
Reverend Benny L. Everett III, M. Div., reminded us that in today’s world, this is seen in wage gaps, predatory pricing, and systems that ignore the cries of the needy. Amos reminds us that true worship includes defending dignity and creating spaces where all can thrive.
Please watch the sermon below and be encouraged:
- God remembers our prayers
- God remembers our value and
- God remembers His Word.
